Field Clean-up Saturday 18-Apr-2015
The LAFA annual field clean-up is scheduled for Saturday 18-Apr-2015 starting at 8:00 AM. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this week so we can get everything ready for Opening Day! Please keep an eye on the LAFA website and e-mail announcements.
Please remember to check-in and check-out at the pavilion next to the concession stand. Please bring any (or all) of the items listed below:
Rakes (iron/steel and leaf)
Field clean-up day is fun, and it is a great opportunity to meet other members of the community. Come out and help us prepare the fields for another exciting season of softball and baseball.
Final in-person Registration
We will hold a final in-person registration for players 4 years old (kickball) & 5-8 years old (instructional leagues). Those interested in registering their daughter or son should stop by the Hale Field Press Box. First time registrants must bring a copy of their child's birth certificate. The Hale Field Press Box is the first press box you see as you enter the LAFA Fields @ Campo Complex.
Now that tryouts are over we are able to focus on umpire training for 2015. LAFA has a long tradition of using youth umpires for our baseball program. This teaches our children a new side of the game giving them a greater understanding of Americas Past Time as well as keeps the cost of participating in our programs to a minimum. Boys and girls age 13 or older are eligible to umpire and be paid for their services. To give the kids the knowledge and confidence needed we hold training every spring. These trainings are mandatory for both the umpires and our "drafted team" coaches.
We are looking to start this Sunday. We will have 2 sessions a week to prepare both new and experienced umpires for the upcoming season. We are lucky enough to have a professional umpire in the LAFA family willing to share his expertise with our children. The focus will be on both rules and procedures covering issues from the 2014 season. On Mondays we will meet at the high school for classroom time from 6:30pm until 8:00pm. On Sundays we will meet @ the South School Gym from 3:00pm until 5:00pm for practice.
