Announcing Changes to Redwings Program

The Londonderry Dugout Club and LAFA are excited to announce changes to the Redwings program.

Both organizations are committed to a program that will develop Londonderry youths from 4-5 years old all the way through high school and we believe these changes will accomplish that goal.

What are we changing?

* We will re-brand the Redwings to Jr Lancers to signify the connection between the LHS baseball program and our youth feeder program
* Jr Lancer baseball operations will now be run by the Dugout Club
* Londonderry will now have a single, comprehensive baseball program with similar mission statements, goals, and overall structure
* The new program will focus on the development of Londonderry boys as they progress from kickball, through the LAFA Rec/All-Star program, through Jr Lancers, and ultimately into the Middle School, the High School and the Legion programs
* The Jr Lancer program will be managed as a program rather than multiple individual teams
* LHS baseball coaches and players will begin to have more involvement with the younger boys in the form of mentoring, activities, and other collaborative opportunities

What's not changing?

* LAFA will continue to run all recreational and Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth All-Star programs
* LAFA will continue to run administration and finances for Jr Lancers
* Jr Lancers will continue to use the LAFA website for booking games, practices, etc.
* For 2017, Jr Lancers will continue to participate in the New England Elite Baseball League (NE-EBL)

We invite you to click on the link below to view more information about the Dugout Club as well as some slides explaining the new program.  Click here to view the slides.  If you have additional questions, feel free to email Pete Lincoln @

As part of this new program, we will conduct interviews for anyone interested in coaching.  Any existing and prospective coaches are encouraged to apply by emailing Pete Lincoln at .  All interested parties need to email Pete by this Friday, 7/15 so we can begin the process early next week.  Tryouts will be the week of 8/1 & 8/8 (details to be provided once coaches are selected).

Q: Will outside towns still be able to participate in the program?

A: Outside towns are welcome to tryout.  However, the new program is intended to grow and develop Londonderry boys so we will be focused on Londonderry candidates before looking at additional players

Q: Will the price increase?

A: We are focused on a low-cost, not-for-profit program so costs will still be affordable.  Costs can always increase due to league fees or other economic factors but not due to the transition

Q: What is the Dugout Club?

A: The Dugout Club is the Londonderry High School and Middle School booster program.  Its charter is to support the schools' baseball program as needed to include supplying equipment, team banquets, spring trips and annual scholarships for 2 of our deserving seniors.  It is run by a board and is supported by the parents with players in the school system.

Q: What is the difference between AAU and NE-EBL?

A: They are competing leagues (similar to Little League and Cal Ripken).  Jr Lancers currently participates in the NE-EBL.

Q: What happens to my child after 13U?

A: Jr Lancers will end with 13U.  After that, the Dugout Club has options such as the 15U/19U Lancer program, as well as the Legion team.  We are currently working on other opportunities such as a Jr Legion team.

Q: Is this just a brand name change?

A: No.  This is the creation of a comprehensive program to develop Londonderry boys  into successful high school baseball players.

To operate a program of over 600 players requires the participation of everyone.  We greatly appreciate everyone's participation!  Please contact the LAFA if you can contribute time towards improving our league.

Please remember that dogs are not permitted on Londonderry athletic fields while children are present.  We also respectfully request that people refrain from smoking at the LAFA field complex.
